British Approval for Fire Equipment (BAFE) - Contract Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers
BAFE Scheme SP101 provides a specification for the application of ISO 9001:2000 to the contract maintenance of portable fire extinguishers.
Advantages
The companies certified to ISO 9001:2000 and meeting the requirements of BAFE SP101 are able to gain BAFE listing and join the main trade organisations, F.E.T.A and I.F.E.D.A. Please note that the ISO 9001:2000 system must be certificated by a UKAS accredited body having the maintenance of portable fire extinguishers in its scope (these are listed in Appendix C of the BAFE SP101 document, available from the www.bafe.org.uk).
The continuing assessment activity ensures that the company maintains the system and processes in place to ensure on going compliance to the scheme requirements; this also provides opportunities for business process improvement in organizations. The customer has confidence that the maintenance work they are paying for is being undertaken in a professional manner.
