Transport Quality System - Road, Rail and Inland Navigation Transport.
BS EN 12798 is the quality system requirement to supplement BS EN ISO 9002 for the transport of dangerous goods with regard to safety.
Many transporters in this sector have already been qualified for the quality certificate EN ISO 9002. However, this standard is insufficient for the specific aspects that have to guarantee safety for the transportation of hazardous materials by road, rail, and through inland waterways. The European norm committee CEN, in co-operation with transporters in this sector and the petrochemical industry, has developed supplement EN 12798. This supplement describes the necessary system requirements for this. Implementation is voluntary since the European Committee assumes that transporters are responsible for guaranteeing safety.
