ISO/IEC 20000-1
Information Technology/Service Management Specification
This specification defines the requirements for a service provider to deliver managed services. This part of BS ISO/IEC 20000 is based on and supersedes BS 15000-1.
It may be used:
- By businesses that are going out to tender for their services
- To provide a consistent approach by all service providers in a supply chain
- To benchmark IT service management
- As the basis for an independent assessment
- To demonstrate the ability to meet customer requirements
- To improve services.
This standard promotes the adoption of an integrated process approach to effectively deliver managed services to meet the business and customer requirements. For an organization to function effectively it has to identify and manage numerous linked activities. Coordinated integration and implementation of the service management processes provides the ongoing control, greater efficiency, and opportunities for continual improvement.
